Job Posting: Head of Ramallah Friends School

Friends United Meeting is accepting applications for the position of Head of Ramallah Friends School (RFS), located in Ramallah, Palestine. This is a full-time long-term field staff position within the Global Ministries Department of Friends United Meeting. The Head of School is the senior member of the RFS staff, responsible for ensuring FUM’s faithful stewardship as owners of the school and shepherding its mission of providing a distinctively Friends education to Palestinian boys and girls since 1869. The Head of School reports to the General Secretary of Friends United Meeting and works in a mutually-accountable relationship with the Board of Trustees of the School.

Job Posting: Search for Coordinator of Global Ministries

Friends United Meeting (Richmond) seeks a full-time, highly organized person to join our staff team as the Coordinator of Global Ministries. The Coordinator of Global Ministries will be an active member of the Global Ministries Team. This person will provide administrative support for FUM’s field-staff and global ministry partners by coordinating schedules, communications, financial activities, and overseeing assigned programs.

2D Annual Sessions: Yearly Meetings Finding New Ways to Gather, Worship and Work

Friends are innovating at digital speeds to adapt to the threats of a global pandemic. Friends are going online to join virtual meetings for worship, meetings for business, camping and youth programs, pastors’ support groups, prayer groups, fundraisers, and webinars. And for the first time this year, many FUM Yearly Meetings and Associations held their annual sessions online.

Awakened in the Word

This poem is one I’ve struggled to write for three years or so. The experience itself is a struggle of longer duration. When I found myself on the Jesus Way again after being a non-believer for forty years or so, I also saw that Christ asked more of me than acceptance of miracles and belief. I feel much ambivalence about what Symeon’s revelation means for me. —Franchot Ballinger

Blinding oneness

I live for those fleeting and rare moments of commUNION, when everything is joined, including me. They are so alive, so vibrant, so red and burning. I never know when to expect them. They just come as a gift, which I graciously accept.

Like a child

Gage, one of the Philadelphia Quaker Voluntary Service Fellows from the 2015-16 year, has a special gift. He sees the world with child-like wonder. I watched all year as a sensibility fostered in the majestic beauty of the Pacific Northwest struggled to find the glory of God in the cracks of Philly’s decayed, post-industrial neighborhoods.
