Unfortunately, some of FUM’s business email accounts were compromised on September 2, and some spam messages were sent out recently from our FUM address. Nothing included in the email originates from Friends United Meeting, and we strongly urge you to delete the email without opening any of the attachments. If you did open the attachment, run your virus scan software, and take any recommended actions. We’ve taken immediate steps to secure our account and sincerely apologize for any concerns this may have caused.

Dear Friends,Our time in Belize has come to an end. And all I can say is . . . thank you. As I leave Belize, the church is growing from week to week under the leadership of Oscar and Miriam Mmbali; the school has just graduated the biggest class in several years, as our dear principal Frank Tench bids us farewell; and the center is partnering with many other organizations with help from our own Athina Major! The Belize Friends community is transitioning in many ways and though transitions are never completely smooth, I am leaving so impressed by the vision and energy these leaders bring to our community. What more could I ask for?

She comes to this position with a master’s degree in Leadership in Education, as well as the necessary bachelor’s and associate’s degrees in Primary Education. The Belize Friends Center, Message in a Book Foundation Belize, and Belize Friends Church collaborated and hosted their first Literacy Party, and it was a fantastic success! The Friends Center wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated youth leaders, Sunday school children, and the amazing parents who made this event possible. They look forward to another successful Literacy Party next year, as they continue to spread the love of reading and learning in our community.

Many caregivers, healers, and pastors have given sacrificially of themselves, their hearts, their energy, their time, and their bodies. These people carry so much of their community with them. Even when given a respite and not responsible for all aspects of the worship, hands are still so full we are often unable to receive the blessing laid out before us.
