FUM Trustee Zelika Galavu visits the Ambwere farm

FUM Trustee Zelika Galavu visited the Ambwere farm sustainability project on behalf of the trustees on Saturday, March 21. She reports that maize planting was ongoing, and half of the land has been planted. The early planting germination is between 80% and 100%. Board Makes Changes to NAM Committee

At the March meeting of the Friends United Meeting General Board, North American and Caribbean section, board members agreed to changes in the work assigned to the North American Ministries committee of the board. Previously, the North American Ministries Committee was responsible for four FUM programs: Stoking the Fire, African Friends in North America (AFNA), Flourishing Friends, and Unleashing the Power.

Friends United Meeting’s General Board met in person and via Zoom from March 6–8, 2025. The meetings started with a development session led by Colin Saxton, Director of Church Relations and Stewardship Theologian for Everence Financial Services. Colin initiated a discussion on how Everence could further build financial capacity within Friends United Meeting, prompting a deeper conversation among board members.

We can be More

During my quiet time this morning I was thinking about what God is trying to teach me – teach us – during this season. It is my intent to grow from this, and to learn. At the same time I was thinking about how I can help the members of Wilmington Yearly Meeting, particularly this coming week as we should be preparing to celebrate the Resurrection.

Caring for Self and Others in Times of Trouble:

Alex Kern is the Director of Northeastern University’s Center for Spirituality, Dialogue, and Service, and a Friend from New England Yearly Meeting. This week he shared these thoughts—about caring for oneself and others during times of trouble—with the interfaith campus ministry community he serves.

Uncertainty

With no employees allowed on the Ramallah Friends School campus for a month, no one will be there to do the heavy landscaping work until at least April, after I leave. I won't be able to participate in the installation of the Circle. My disappointment is pretty intense—so much design happens when you actually install. Besides the landscaping, the connections I have been developing with people here are not going to have this last month to deepen.
