Living Letters will Return to Cuba 10–21 November 2022

Friends United Meeting is pleased to announce that we will be organizing our first Living Letters group trip to Cuba since the beginning of the Covid pandemic, in 2020. For a number of years before the pandemic, Friends United Meeting sent Living Letters to experience the life and witness of Cuban Quakerism, and join Cuba Yearly Meeting in celebrating the arrival of their first missionaries.Since the beginning of the pandemic, FUM, like most other organizations, has had to make tough decisions about which of our “normal” activities can be carried on as usual. One activity that we had to curtail almost entirely was travel, both by staff and in FUM-sponsored groups. It will be significant that our first group Living Letters trip will be to Cuba, a country that has been especially isolated through both stringent Covid travel restrictions and government-imposed sanctions. The 2022 Living Letters trip will occur November 10–21, to coincide with Cuba Yearly Meeting’s annual celebration of the arrival of the first Quaker missionaries to the island, on November 14, 1900. The trip will be focused on sharing in worship, fellowship, and intervisitation. For more information, contact Karla Jay.
