Thirty Days of Prayer - Day Twenty Five

As One Who Seeks First The Kingdom Of God

We need not beg to enter into the presence of God. Whether we recognize it or not, we are always and forever loved and watched over by the Divine Spirit. Instead of seeking and knocking to get into the presence of God, we have to knock on the door to get out of the prison of worldliness we have built for ourselves out of the things that we thought we desired but which do not satisfy us.

Even though we live in the nourishing fields of Love, we cushion our lives with reputations, conveniences, wealth, gossip, allies, enemies, and a variety of both trinkets and trinkets to control our other trinkets. Soon, we find ourselves surrounded on all sides by things that leave us only wanting more—more money, more popularity, and more shiny things.

When we act on desires of the world we will never be satisfied because we are in this world but we are not of this world and our souls can never be satiated by worldly accomplishments. We belong FIRST to the Kingdom of theLord, the Kingdom of Righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Desires of the flesh lead us to build stockpiles which serve only to separate us from our Creator, who assures us that, like the lilies of the field, we will be given everything we need (Matthew 6:28-30).

If we are willing to take the step of faith out of our prison of worldliness and into the open fields of Love, we will finally be at peace. When we are finally at peace, we are finally able to give ourselves fully to the service of Godin whatever ways we may be called.

Query for Reflection

What desires of the flesh are keeping me separated from God? What would it take for me to leave them behind?

When you catch yourself becoming anxious about your worldly condition, stop whatever you are doing and takea moment to refocus on seeking instead the Kingdom of Righteousness.
