Thirty Days of Prayer - Day Twelve

John 20:21-22 NIV  "Again Jesus said, 'Peace be with you!  As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.' And with that he breathed on them and said, 'Receive the Holy Spirit.' "

We are the inheritors of the disciples being sent to share the love of God made known through Jesus' life, teachings, death, and resurrection.  Emory Rees, a distant cousin, was one who went to Kenya in 1903.  Assisted by Kenyans, he made a verbal, tribal language into a written one and translated the New Testament.  Many others have been called and have responded by going as led to provide education, technical help, and medical services.

It has been my privilege to go to Ramallah, Belize, and Kenya to support the work of those who have served and those continuing the work.  It has also been my privilege to provide hospitality for Friends women coming to USFWI conferences in the United States.  For 29 years I volunteered at Open Doors, our local food and clothing pantry.  Volunteers from churches in the community have provided this service of help and encouragement to those needing assistance.

Serving in our yearly meetings and sharing in our local meetings by helping others know about the work being done by Friends United Meeting is another way to provide support.  Providing financial support to those who go is vital for both the giver and receiver.  All of us, whether we actively go to other places or provide support for those who do, are contributing to the spreading of God's kingdom of love and light.
