Quaker Life Publishes Online Pentecost Readings

The chorus from the song, “Holy Spirit,” reiterates the message of Pentecost:

Holy spirit, You are welcome here

Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere

Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for

To be overcome by Your presence, Lord.

Our Pentecost devotional booklet represents that same invitation to the presence of God’s Holy Spirit in the gathered body. Folks from across the FUM community have written that which God has laid on their hearts. You can find these meditations on the verses that describe Jesus resurrection and the gift of the Holy Spirit on our social media pages and on our website. On our website, the devotional booklet occurs in two forms—with images, for reading online; or without images, for printing on an office copy machine. Perhaps we can gather with one another and engage together with this loving gift of encouragement.

As Friends, we are not always “special day” celebratory. We celebrate God at work in this world, in our hearts, and in our lives. Pentecost is one of those Biblical moments Friends may celebrate regularly—God’s presence manifest in the lives of the gathered community. Whether or not our celebration is overt, we highlight, uplift and encourage the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We acknowledge the presence of the Divine in one another.
