African Friends Church Pastors Conference to be Held in Uganda in December

"...Pastors are gathering not only for fellowship & renewal, but also to embrace & affirm an African Quaker identity—doing ministry as African Quakers, for Africans, in Africa.”

So said John Muhanji, Friends United Meeting Director of African Ministries, describing the Eleventh Friends Church Africa Pastors Conference. The conference runs from December 26–30 with this theme: “Empowerment for Kingdom Impact: Equipping Servant Leaders for Transformation Ministry.”

This year’s conference will be hosted in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. Muhanji called Uganda Yearly Meeting “a light in East Africa,” referencing evangelism efforts over the past several years that have borne much fruit.

The Pastors Conference in Uganda is attracting pastors & other leaders from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, and beyond, for mutual encouragement, prayer, and renewal in ministry. The conference will create a platform for Quaker pastors to engage across national borders, fostering deeper relationships and strengthening the bonds of the wider Friends Church family in Africa. It will also, by God’s grace, provide space for ongoing reflection, learning, and transformative conversations that shape the future of Friends ministry in Africa in ways that are Spirit-led, culturally relevant, and mission-focused.

Please hold this conference in the light, praying that Friends leaders in East Africa will be challenged and renewed by their time together.
