July—Peacemaking in Samburu

In Samburu, Kenya, pastor Christopher Leduma, from Samburu Friends Mission, facilitated a one-day transformative dialogue called by Samburu community members who are tired of bandits from rival Samburu communities attacking familes and stealing their animals. In addition to his work as a pastor, Christopher has skills in Alternatives to Violence training. With inter-religious leaders from the town of Losuk, the meeting was joined by Samburu and Pokot peoples, and a few from Turkana.  FUM Programme Officer Getry Agizah writes, “Although the work is starting, the ground is very delicate. The community is blaming the churches for siding with government and judging them. They want space to be listened to, also.”
