FUM Honors Annice Carter’s Service to RFS

On Wednesday evening, November 19, members of Indiana’s Carter family and Friends from Western Yearly Meeting gathered in Russiaville for an event hosted by Ramallah Friends School and Friends United Meeting. The purpose of the gathering was to honor the life and service of Annice Carter, who served with Ramallah Friends School for many years, as part of the Foundation for Tomorrow campaign.

A Palestinian dinner was served. Rania Maayeh, Head of School, and Kelly Kellum, General Secretary, offered brief remarks about the Foundation for Tomorrow campaign, including the push to complete the construction of the Annice Carter Memorial Hall. They spoke about Annice’s years of steady, practical work at Ramallah Friends School and how her influence continues to be felt in the School’s culture today. They also showed a video explaining the three main functions of the Hall and why it will be important to students. Featuring a dynamic middle schooler named Natalie, the video was extremely well received. You can see it here.

The naming of the Hall in her memory is a simple but meaningful way to recognize Annice Carter’s life and the connection between her home town, her family, and FUM’s ongoing work in Ramallah.

It was a good evening with a grateful spirit, shared memories, and a sense of appreciation for the Carter family and their lasting ties to the ministry of the School.
