Cultivating Generous Congregations
May 1–2, 2020
Quaker Hill Conference Center, Richmond, Indiana
Cultivating Generous Congregations (CGC) is an interactive and
practical workshop focused on inspiring and equipping meetings/churches toward generosity and faithful, financial stewardship. Participants will explore the unique mission/vision of their congregation, current trends in giving, the spirituality of fundraising, and creative ways to invite Friends into a fuller partnership in the shared work and witness of the fellowship.
As Quakers, we sometimes struggle to have conversations about giving and our use of wealth, especially as it relates to church finances. The CGC workshop helps create space for authentic sharing, how we might consider new practices and offers resources to shift the culture of generosity moving forward. Congregations are strongly encouraged to send at least three representatives, including pastors, treasurers, other stewardship leaders, and/or clerks of the Meeting. Others are, of course, welcome and encouraged to attend!
Facilitator: Colin Saxton serves an Everence ® Stewardship Consultant with a passion for seeing thriving communities of faith. He serves as an instructor for the Cultivating Generous Congregations and acts as a liaison to the Friends world.Colin and his wife Janine live in Newberg, Oregon. Prior to coming to Everence, Colin was a Quaker pastor, superintendent of Northwest Yearly Meeting of Friends and General Secretary of Friends United Meeting.
Everence partners with the Lake Institute on Faith and Giving to make this workshop available. Through a generous grant from the Lilly Foundation, we are able to offer it for only $50 per congregation. FUM/Quaker Hill are providing housing and meal options for an additional fee.
