  • Worship:  
    • Provide regular messages at Meeting for Worship that are thoughtful and inspiring / rooted in the teachings of Jesus and the relevance of Quaker theology for our time;
    • Welcome the diverse theological beliefs held by the Meeting community;
    • Embrace the expectant waiting of the Quaker tradition and listen to the Spirit during Meeting for Worship;
    • Lead the worship services that address major life events: weddings, funerals, baby dedications and others;
    • Assist in developing and presenting a Spirit-filled and positive worship experience in both Meeting for Worship and other activities that will attract and retain members; and
    • Work closely with the musical programming of the Meeting.
  • Pastoral Care:  
    • Provide spiritual nourishment and guidance to members of the Meeting community, which includes personal visits and providing support to the ill, troubled, and/or recently bereaved;
    • Participate in and encourage community witness and service;
    • Direct and be primarily responsible for the adult and youth ministries of the Meeting;
    • Assist the Meeting in discerning, developing and maintaining resources to meet the broader needs of the Meeting community for spiritual education, development, and support of one another;
    • Encourage the development of the ministry of the members/attenders of the Meeting; and
    • Serve as an example through the pastor’s own life and experiences.
  • Leadership and Planning:
    • Help define and implement the vision of the Meeting (which requires dedication to the growth and stability of the Meeting).
  • Administration:
    • Work with staff, the Monthly Meeting and appropriate constituencies to ensure good communication and help implement the Meeting’s goals;
    • Follow financial guidelines set by the Finance Committee and Trustees; and
    • Follow organizational policies of the Meeting.
  • Quaker Representation:
    • Ensure through worship and other means that regular attenders have a basic understanding of and appreciation for Quaker faith and practice; and
    • Be knowledgeable of Quaker resources and participate in the wider Quaker community.
